Imagine downloading your mind into a sentient machine. And destroying your body. Would the machine, on waking up, feel it is yourself? Are you the mind then? Now suppose the memories in this machine, were erased. Would this machine cease to know itself as yourself? Are you the memories then? If you are your memories, then every time you forget one thing you are not yourself any more?
